It’s an exciting time for the Basecamp Enterprise Team as we reopen the New Enterprise Competition this September! But why should you apply?
1.) It caters for all stages of your start-up journey
The competition caters for all levels of start-up stages: ‘Ideas,’ ‘Development’ and ‘Growth.’ Funding is available at all stages, and there is pro bono support available from our sponsors in the Growth stage of the competition. You can apply to any and all stages of the competition and do not need to complete them in order (more information below). 2.) Every idea counts
What makes a start-up? From jewellery design to bespoke robotic limbs, bespoke nutritional meal prep, to novel vertical farming technologies, there really is no limit to what counts as a ‘start-up.’ We welcome ideas from all disciplines, specialities and scales. Applications from charities, social enterprises, freelancers, sole traders and limited companies are encouraged.
3.) You’ve got nothing to lose, and so much to gain
Whether you’re a natural problem solver, have an idea and want to try something new, or you’ve always dreamed of being an entrepreneur, we’d love to hear from you. The competition is designed to provide you with the encouragement and space to try out your ideas in a pro-active and experimental way; growing your confidence, increasing enterprise skills and enhancing your start-up journey, wherever it may take you.

Ideas Stage: If you’ve got an idea that you want to trial and test out in its early stages, then the Ideas Stage could be for you, with up to £200 of funding up for grabs to get you going.

Development Stage: If you feel you’re ready to take your idea further, then boost your start-up by applying to the Development Stage of the New Enterprise Competition, with up to £1000 worth of funding available to take your ideas forward.

Growth Stage: Ready to take your start-up to the next level? Then apply to the Growth Stage for up to £20,000 of funding and pro-bono support from our sponsors to help launch, advance and grow your start-up to realise its full potential. Please note, this stage of the competition is only open to final year undergraduate students, final year postgraduate students, alumni up to three years after graduation and staff.
