My COVID-19 SME Internship: Rosie - Airway Medical Ltd

As part of the University of Bristol’s COVID-19 SME Internship Fund, I completed a placement with Airway Medical Ltd (AML), a Bristol-basedmedical device startup. The company produces Suction and Oxygen Therapy equipment such as the Airway Medical Suction Unit (AMSUfor clearing blocked airways in emergency and chronic conditions.  (more…)

I did an SME Internship at Scribeless, a tech start-up company that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced printing technology to create handwritten letters that are indiscernible from those written by the human handEnterprise giants and start-ups alike, companies all around the world use Scribeless’ letters to bring a personalised feel to their marketing campaigns, ultimately leading to an improvement in their acquisition and retention of customers.  (more…)

My COVID-19 SME Internship: Beatriz – Airborne UK

Introduction 

Hi I’m Beatriz, I’m in my 4th year of Aerospace Engineering and I just completed an internship at Airborne UK, supported by the COVID-19 SME Internship Fund. This funding was offered by the University of Bristol to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to support their summer internship programs. Considering that many internship opportunities got cancelled due to the current situation, I was very lucky that Airborne kept their offer with the condition that I would work remotely.  (more…)

It’s Global Entrepreneurship Week!

This week, 16 to 20 November marks Global Entrepreneurship Week. The campaign began in 2008 with an emphasis on inspiring young people to make their mark. It has quickly grown into a week which inspires entrepreneurs, students, researchers and more to collaborate and advance economic growth and innovation.

The Basecamp Enterprise team are getting involved by offering a jam-packed week of events where industry experts share top tips, networking opportunities and the launch of Natwest 10k challenge.

Global Entrepreneurship Week

Although there are several events happening across the world this week which focus on business and entrepreneurship, the Basecamp Enterprise team run workshops, events and start-up support all year round to keep you feeling motivated and inspired.

The New Enterprise Competition Ideas stage- Now open!

The New Enterprise Competitionthe University of Bristol’s flagship start-up competition hosted by the Basecamp Enterprise team, is soon to be entering it’s 20th year. 

Comprising  three stages: Ideas, Development and Growth, every year we award £35,000 plus pro-bono support over the stages to support start-up businesses, charities and social enterprises.  

The Ideas stage of the competition is now open for applications!

Why apply for the Ideas stage? 

The competition is designed to inspire and encourage you to develop your business and think about your long-term career plans 

Over the years, applicants’ ventures have varied between sustainable clothing businesses to security software, from apps to enhance mental wellbeing to vegan snacks. Whether you have started to think about a product or service that could solve a problem over the summer, or you have a business venture you have been working on for the last few months, no idea is too small or too big for this stage.

My COVID-19 SME Internship: Maisie – Bristol Food Union

My name is Maisie, I’m an ecology graduate. After months of writing up my thesis and being entirely screen-based during lockdown, I was feeling square-eyed, fatigued and longing to get out of the house. I especially wanted to be more involved in community and people-based projects happening around the city in response to COVID-19, so I happily took a COVID-19 SME Internship working for Bristol Food Union (BFU).
