FixMyTek, formerly known as FixMyCrack, is one of the exciting student start-ups the Basecamp Team had the pleasure of working with during their early days at the University of Bristol.

Since then, they’ve grown into a thriving tech repair business, and we’re excited to catch up with them in the blog below as they share their journey, their mission, and what’s next for FixMyTek.

Hello, Bristol students! Welcome to our blog. If you’ve been around campus for a while, you probably remember us as FixMyCrack. Fun name, right? But we’ve evolved, and now we’re FixMyTek, your trusted on-campus tech repair team. Don’t worry, we still fix those cracks, and much more! Find us here for all your tech needs at both the University of Bristol and UWE.

Our mission

At FixMyTek, we’re not just about fixing devices, we’re here to make a difference. Founded by students, we understand the pressures of university life. We aim to provide reliable, convenient tech repair solutions, making sure your devices stay in top shape when you need them most.

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. By choosing to repair rather than replace, you’re reducing e-waste, one of the most pressing environmental issues today.

Our story

FixMyTek started in the University of Bristol halls when our founder, Casey, began fixing phones for friends. Soon, the word spread, and what started as a side gig became a fully-fledged tech repair service. Over the years, we’ve grown from “FixMyCrack” into “FixMyTek,” adding more team members, many of them students like you, and expanding our services to meet all your tech repair needs.

With support from friends, customers, and the University of Bristol’s Careers Service, we’ve grown from a one-person operation to a trusted name across campus.

Our journey has been shaped by invaluable opportunities, including our involvement with the Basecamp Enterprise Team and participation in the New Enterprise Competition.

Whether it’s a cracked phone screen, a coffee-drenched laptop, or a phone dropped during a night out, we’re here to help.

Why the name change?

While we loved the quirky name FixMyCrack, we’ve grown up. FixMyTek better reflects who we are today, your one-stop solution for any tech problem. It also gives us room to expand our services beyond just phone repairs, covering everything from laptop fixes to tech accessories.

But rest assured, we’re still the same friendly, student-founded team committed to keeping your devices running smoothly.
