This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with Drinks Kitchen, a pioneering company in the non-alcoholic beverage industry.
Located in Bristol, Drinks Kitchen is on a mission to redefine social drinking norms by offering high-quality, environmentally mindful non-alcoholic drinks. The internship was part of the SME Internship Scheme, which aims to provide students and recent graduates with quality, paid work experience.
The Internship
Most of my internship was remote, with regular virtual meetings and occasional in-person sessions in Bristol and Weston. This setup provided a flexible working environment that was both accommodating and efficient.
My role as a Digital Marketing Intern
Social media strategy and content creation: I developed a strategy for business and consumer communications on LinkedIn and Instagram. This included creating a social media calendar, designing posts, and producing engaging content using tools like Canva.
During this internship, I gained valuable skills in digital marketing and content creation. I also developed a deeper understanding of social media strategy, competitive analysis, and how to communicate brand value effectively. My creativity and communication skills were significantly enhanced, and I learned to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Advice and learning for other students:
- Stay curious: always be open to learning new tools and techniques. Digital marketing is ever evolving, and staying updated is key.
- Time management: balancing different tasks can be challenging. Prioritise your tasks and set realistic deadlines.
- Feedback is gold: regularly seek feedback from your supervisors. It helps in improving your work and understanding expectations better.
