Welcome (or welcome back!) to the University of Bristol. We are your Careers Service. We are here to support you in preparing for your next steps during or after you finish your studies. It’s never too early to start!   

Whether it’s help in getting a part-time job, finding internships and graduate roles, writing CVs and applications, or deciding what you want to do after your degree, we’re here for you.     

First things first, you are going to hear us talking about mycareer a lot this year. mycareer is your portal to resources, vacancies, events, appointments and more. You can set up a profile in there that will tailor content just for you.

Here are 5 ways you can engage with us during your time at Bristol

1 – Explore our Resources

Our resources include information and guides on a wide range of topics, from exploring your options and researching employers to CVs, cover letters and applications. We also have some new interactive tools this year such as our online CV checker tool which provides you with detailed feedback and examples, and our Interview practice tool.  


2 – Come along to an event

We run events throughout the year, from large-scale ones like the Employer Showcase on Wednesday 2 October and Thursday 3 October, to talks and workshops that teach you how to craft the perfect CV, ace interviews, and find opportunities.

3- Find part-time work, internships and graduate roles  

Employers often list their vacancies with us, from part-time roles to internships and graduate roles, so it’s worth checking our opportunities page regularly.

Check out our guides with top tips for how to get started and use filters to target your search on mycareer to find exactly what you want.

Whether it’s a part-time role to fit around your studies, volunteering, a summer internship, or immediate start graduate vacancies, we’ve got you covered!  


4 – Accept the challenge: sign up for the Bristol PLUS Award  

Five happy PLUS Award students

The Bristol PLUS Award rewards you for extracurricular activities completed at any point during your degree and provides a structure to reflect on the skills you have developed. You’ll also receive formal recognition on your degree transcript and at graduation. 

The Bristol PLUS Award is open to all students at the university and can be completed during any year of your studies.

Finally and most importantly… we are here for you! You can talk to us on Live Chat or pop in to see us at 5 Tyndall Avenue between 10 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday in term-time.
