Could you benefit from the Business School Micro Internship programme?

Gain valuable experience and boost your employability skills as a Master’s student on this 3-week internship with the Business School.

The University of Bristol Business School offers Master’s students the chance

to take part in a 3-week authentic industry project designed to prepare you for the workplace through real business challenges.

The programme is running twice this year with two different groups of students.  Our next intake is in June 2025 and you can express your interest here

How it works: During the programme, you will work as a virtual Student Consultant team. Your team will be matched with an industry client.  Your client will set you a project brief and your team will collaborate to understand your industry client’s context.

At the end of the programme, you will present your findings and recommendations in a professional report and final presentation back to your client.  Your client is then able to use these to support the development of their business.

You will also be supported by a mentor, who will provide advice and feedback on all your key deliverables.

Your industry client will be a UK or international organisation, often a start-up or SME. Their brief will align to one of our 5 business themes:

  • Growth strategy
  • Digital marketing
  • Funding strategy
  • Sustainable impact
  • AI

Your mentor will coach your team throughout the programme. They will be a volunteer from either industry, academia or professional services at the University.  They are there to help keep your team on track and support you to deliver professionally.

Top 5 reasons to take part in this programme

  1. Develop professional skills and experience
  2. Work for a real client on a real challenge, and gain exposure to working as a virtual project team
  3. Make business & social connections
  4. Gain practical experience you can talk about in future interviews, assessment centres and further opportunities
  5. The opportunity to positively impact the direction and development of a real organisation.

Looking for some evidence?

Nivetha, MSc International Business and Strategy said “This micro-internship allowed me to experience firsthand the transition from academic theory to practical application. It provided an invaluable opportunity to grow as a leader, understand the complexities of real-world challenges, and contribute to an organisation working to make a difference”
